Bird Walk at Maplewood Flats – North Vancouver
Leona Axbey and Maureen Collier will co-lead a walk in this area that will include tidal flats, marshes, meadows and forested areas. The highlight of our previous trip in April was a Townsend’s Warbler. The walk will start at 9 AM and last approximately 2 hours. This is an easy walk on mostly level ground. There is an option to bring your lunch and eat together outdoors, weather permitting.
Various ducks, waterbirds, and migrants are seen here regularly, as well as some local characters such as otters, mink, and deer. Check out the latest sightings on ebird. https://ebird.org/hotspot/L164543?yr=all&m=&rank=mrec
Pre-registration is required and the trip is limited to 15 participants, including the trip co-leaders. Email Leona Axbey to register: rovintiger@gmail.com. Nature Vancouver members will be given priority. Registration should be requested no later than Thursday, November 9 for this trip. Parking is limited. There is a bus stop close to the site. Consider ride-sharing if you’re comfortable with that. Let the trip leaders know. Directions will be sent with confimations.
