Discovery

Discovery is an annual journal of natural history and conservation, published by Nature Vancouver since 1972. From 1972 to 1998, Discovery was published four times a year. Starting in 1999, the journal was published only twice a year and since 2009, it has been published once every year (except for 2017).

Weekly e-News

Nature Vancouver members receive a weekly newsletter by e-mail, with up to date information on upcoming field trips and other events. This newsletter is sent out  every Monday. If you have any announcement or information that you would like to include in the newsletter, please send it to Weekly e-NEWS before Sunday evening.To subscribe to the newsletter, please contact the Membership Secretary.

The Bulletin

The Vancouver Natural History Society published a newsletter for the members called, The Bulletin, from 1943 to 1971. In 2005, Bill Merilees compiled important articles from The Bulletin. Click HEREfor a PDF copy.  A hard copy is available at Vancouver Public Library. 

Vancouver Naturalist

In 1999 Nature Vancouver started publishing a quarterly newsletter, Vancouver Naturalist. In 2019 it was decided to discontinue publishing Vancouver Naturalist and use the Weekly e-News to inform members about Nature Vancouver programs and other events. The Wandering Tattler

From 1977 to 2018, the Birding Section of Nature Vancouver, published a newsletter, called, The Wandering Tattler. It was edited and produced by Jude Grass eight times a year and distributed at the Birders’ Night programs. The pdf’s of some of the newsletters (2007 to 2012) are now available  HERE.

Species Lists

Over the years, members of Nature Vancouver have explored remote parts of BC and recorded their observations of plants, birds, and animals. Some of the lists of  those observations are available from the link below.

Books and Pamphlets

Over the years, Nature Vancouver has published a number of books and pamphlets of interest to naturalists. Following is a complete listing of all the books. Most of the older publications are out of print. The Vancouver Public Library has some of them in their collection. PDF copies of some of the books are available from the links provided below.

NOTE: Several of the following books were published by Harbour Publishing. They maintain a supportive relationship with Nature Vancouver. Harbour Publishing hosts a website athttps://www.knowbc.com that allows subscribers to access online updates for many of their reference books. Several libraries, including the Vancouver Public Library, are subscribed, and some allow their cardholders to access the website from home.
