Welcome Bird Walk for Beginner’s at Queen Elizabeth Park, March 23

Jan Lowcock and Neill Vanhinsberg will co-lead a walk that will include a circuit around the park checking duck ponds, wooded areas and gardens. The walk will start at 9 AM and last approximately 2 hours. This is an easy walk on mostly level ground with a few small hills. Trails are either paved or hard packed. If you have mobility issues, please let us know and we can cater the walk to your needs. There will be some binoculars to lend out if you don’t have a pair.

The emphasis will be on finding and identifying birds from a beginner’s perspective then, observing their behaviour. Questions are encouraged! We will also look at the ebird and merlin apps if there is interest. We should be able to find chickadee flocks, other winter residents and perhaps a few early spring migrants. You can check out the latest sightings at the park on ebird.

Pre-registration is required and the walk is limited to 15 participants, including the trip co-leaders.  Email Neill Vanhinsberg to register: nvanhinsberg@gmail.com

Washrooms are available on site. Nature Vancouver members will be given priority. Pay parking is available in the park but street parking is free. There are bus stops close to the park. Directions will be sent with confirmations.
