Event Type

Join Janet Snell and Jan Lowcock for a birding walk to Lily Point in Point Roberts, Washington. The walk starts with a scenic forest walk through Douglas firs and big leaf maples and down a winding trail to the beach area. There are ocean views along the way from a bluff overlooking Boundary Bay and towards the San Juan Islands. The walk continues along the pebbly beach to the base of the bluffs. There should be a good mixture of forest birds (black-headed grosbeaks, chestnut-backed chickadees), shrubby/meadow birds (warblers, goldfinches), eagles and maybe still some ocean migrants.

The round trip will be approximately 3.5 km with a fairly steep section with an 80 m elevation change down to the beach and then back up again. This trip involves crossing the border to Washington state. Passports are required. Contact janet@naturevancouver.ca to register.
