Benefits to Bats from Habitat Improvements on Farms
Connor Hawey, a field researcher for the Delta Farmland and Wildlife Trust, will talk about the benefits to bats from habitat improvements on farms. The Delta Farmland and Wildlife Trust partners with local farmers to promote stewardship programs on farmland that benefit soil health and wildlife. They have monitored the positive impact of the grassland set-aside and hedgerow programs on wildlife, and have recently expanded their survey scope to bats and their habitat usage in these agricultural areas. They surveyed bats by deploying autonomous recording units and identified species based on spectrograms of their recordings.
This will be an in-person only presentation.
