This 480-page guidebook with colour photos is structured around watching wildlife seasonally. All locations are within a six-hour drive from Vancouver and span species from Killer Whales off Saturna Island to intertidal creatures in Port Renfrew, and from Pacific Herring to Pacific Wrens. Natural history, Indigenous cultural and Traditional Ecological Knowledge, current scientific research, and personal stories from the author and well-known wildlife researchers are covered. Local contributors to the book include Rob Butler, Anne Murray, Johanna Wagstaff and Alan Burger.

The book’s author, Roy Jantzen, is a professor, naturalist and nature-educator, who lives in Port Moody and is a long-time Nature Vancouver member. More information on this and his 2015 Active Vancouver book is available on the publisher’s website. [https://rmbooks.com/collections/roy-jantzen]
