One Earth: A Celebration of Nature, Culture and Ocean Science – Anuradha Rao
Join local author and marine biologist Anuradha Rao for a conversation and celebration of the intersections between nature, culture, land and water. Through storytelling from her book One Earth: People of Color Protecting Our Planet (Orca, 2020), her journey to find her place in the worlds of environmental science and marine biology, and her experiences with eelgrass surveys and restoration planning, Anu will show you how much fun it is to merge western, eastern and Indigenous science.
Anuradha Rao has worked on research, conservation, mapping, planning, policy, restoration and stewardship projects across Canada and in 12 other countries. Locally, she has mapped eelgrass in the entirety of Burrard Inlet, led eelgrass and other nearshore restoration projects, and brought together multi-sector groups in the region towards restoring ocean health.
Copies of One Earth will be available at the talk for sale and signing ($25.00).
