New Brighton Park Invasives Pull
New Brighton Park Invasives Pull
With the big clumps of invasive Scotch Broom and Himalayan Blackberry removed and native roses and flowering perennials planted, we are starting the summer phase of the restoration. We now turn to the pulling of small Broom, Blackberry and Thistle seedlings that are coming up. The next effort will be this coming Saturday, May 14.
The Horsetail dug up by the fence is coming back as well so anyone interested in the continuing ‘equestrian’ campaign is requested to bring their own sturdy shovel for digging.
All tools, gloves and safety googles will be provided but if you have a favourite pair of leather gloves, digger and safety glasses you might find then more suitable than our stock. Also bring your own flask of water, juice or hot beverage.
Please email Greg@naturevancouver.ca for deadlines and to register. As before, we are asking everyone participating to be fully vaccinated, to RSVP, and to sign a release of liability.
For your social calendar, future invasive pull days include: Saturdays, May 28, June 11, June 25.
