Iona Beach Regional Park Birding Field Trip
Join John Chandler and Jan Lowcock for a fall morning birding trip to Iona Beach Regional Park in Richmond. We can scan the beach and mudflats, explore the outer ponds and river areas plus the wooded trails. We’ll be on the lookout for shorebirds, resident birds and others migrating south for the winter.
Please dress for the weather and be prepared for uneven and wet trail conditions. As well, bring binoculars. A few loaner sets will be available for beginners or those who want to try a different type. We will have spotting scopes but feel free to bring yours along.
New birders are especially welcome. Iona Beach Park offers varied habitat for birding and is known as an Important Bird and Biodiversity Area.
Pre-registration is not required for this trip. We will meet in the parking lot adjacent to the public washrooms at 8:15 am for sign-in. The welcome and walk will start at 8:30. If you have any questions, please email janet.lowcock@naturevancouver.ca after September 22.
