Fall Colours in Stanley Park

Event Type

NOTE: this trip was postponed from Saturday October 19th due to the poor weather forecast for the 19th.

Join Nina Shoroplova and Caroline Penn on a walk among ornamental and native trees in Stanley Park on Tuesday October 22nd, walking from 10 a.m. until around noon. At 9:45 a.m., we will meet in the horsechestnut tree triangle on Park Lane; it is opposite the Park Board Offices, and near the heronry, the tennis courts, and the parking lot between Comox Street and Nelson Street. This gives us time to sign in on Nature Vancouver’s forms before the walk begins at 10 a.m.

Bus options are the 6 on Davie/Downtown and 5 Downtown/Robson.

Our walk will take in a superb tulip tree (its leaves will have turned yellow by then), several ornamental cherry blossom groves, many maples (with leaves of various colours), American sweetgums, a harlequin glorybower, and a witch hazel with bewitching orange leaves. Depending on the weather and how we feel about walking further, we might also see two Pacific yews, one with a red trunk and one with a grey and brown one.

Please register with NinaShoroplova @ gmail dot com. The walk is limited to 25 people. Registrants will be provided with a list of some of the trees we’ll see.

This easy two-hour walk will happen rain or shine. Wear a rain jacket and good boots. Bring your camera if you are a photographer!

We hope to see you there.
