🌿Cheakamus Lake Mushroom Hike (FULL)

This hike is full.

We will be leaving 8am from Park Royal North rooftop parking, NW corner marked “Park&Ride”, and car-pooling, or meet us at 9:45am at Function Junction (the turnoff from Highway 99 onto Cheakamus Lake Road.   There are some potholes along the 7km gravel road that leads to the trailhead.  Here is a Google Maps link for the trailhead.   Difficulty Rating: B6 (6 hours easy); Distance: 15km; Elevation Gain: minimal.
A beautiful 15 km forest hike along the Cheakamus River and Cheakamus Lake to Singing Creek campsite. The trail is good with minimal elevation change, but may have some muddy or rough sections. At this time of year we can expect to see a variety of fall mushrooms and participants will learn the basic mushroom groups and their key features. The 7km gravel road that leads to the trailhead is generally suitable for 2WD cars with reasonably good clearance, but has some significant ruts and potholes, so it’s not for the faint-of-heart. We will try to arrange carpooling.

Pre-register with trip leaders Teresa Gagné & Denis Laplante <email: d_t_01 (at) shaw (dot) ca> home: 604-437-4453.
