Join Naomi Ross on a picturesque half-day ramble along and around the Capilano Pacific Trail (North). The trail winds through a thick forest canopy and offers an iconic Fall experience of the rainforest. The hike follows the upper Capilano River canyon and through old growth forest. There are several viewpoints along the way, with dramatic views of the canyon, and we will cross the river on a suspension bridge. We will go past the Cleveland Dam and Capilano River Hatchery. Trees featured are red cedar, Western hemlock, and giant Douglas Firs. There are many nurse-logs of different sizes and stages. If we are lucky, we will see American Dippers in the river and Varied Thrush on the path.

This hike is moderate and rated B3 (approximately three hours). Elevation gain is about 200 metres. There is a small section with roots and rocks, but most of the trail is wide and flat.

Dress for the weather and wear hiking boots. Bring water and a snack. Consider hiking poles.
