The Black Tusk Meadows in Garibaldi Provincial Park were a favourite destination for trips led by John Davidson in the early years of the Vancouver Natural History Society (now Nature Vancouver). John and the society, in fact, were an important factor in the park’s creation. To get there in those days was a major expedition; nowadays there are hundreds of people there on most summer weekends.

This will be a one day hike to the Black Tusk Meadows, with the intended destination being a viewpoint above the meadows at the base of the Black Tusk. The trail is good but it will be a VERY strenuous hike of approximately 28 kilometres return, with approximately 1430 metres elevation gain. Expect a long day (10-12 hours) at a steady pace. Recent experience hiking with us is mandatory.

Co-leaders are Daphne Nagorsen daphnehn@gmail.com and Bill Kinkaid billkinkaid@gmail.com. Registration deadline is Tuesday 7 August. This hike will be rescheduled or cancelled in the case of bad weather or high temperatures.
