Event Type

Join trip leader Christine Balkwill for a quiet morning bird walk through Jericho Beach Park. Jericho has a variety of habitats creating the potential to observe a good range of species. We’ll check the pond area for shorebirds and ducks then wander the paths to look and listen for sparrows, tits, woodpeckers, finches and flycatchers. Hopefully we’ll encounter some migrating warblers. The total walk distance is 2-3 kilometers on gravel trail and grass and is mostly flat except for one short but steep hill. We may veer away from the main path onto smaller dirt trails in order to be where the birds are. We will finish with an optional short beach walk to check for shorebirds and sea birds, time permitting.

All levels are welcome. A limited number of binoculars are available to borrow.

Email Christine at cbalkwill@shaw.ca to register or if you have questions. Registration is limited to 10 participants. Parking, meeting place, bathroom information, and a current conditions update will be emailed to participants a few days before the walk.
