Birding Jericho Beach Park

Birding Jericho Beach Park

Event Type

Join leader Christine Balkwill for a quiet morning bird walk through Jericho Beach Park.  Jericho has a variety of habitats creating the potential to observe a nice range of species. We’ll check the pond area for shorebirds and returning ducks then wander the paths to look and listen for sparrows, tits, wren, woodpeckers, finches and flycatcher.  If we’re lucky we might find some early migrating warblers or a raptor or two.  The total walk distance is 2-3 kilometers on gravel trail and grass and is mostly flat except for one very short hill.  We may finish with a short beach walk to check for shorebirds, time and tide permitting.

All levels are welcome. A limited number of binoculars are available to borrow. Let’s share our birding knowledge and our birding joy.

Email Christine at cbalkwill@shaw.ca to register.  Registration limited to 10 participants.  Questions welcome.  Parking, meeting place, and bathrooms info will be emailed to participants a few days before the walk.
