Big Trees of Lighthouse Park
Big Trees of Lighthouse Park
March 7 Update: This trip is now fully booked.
Join Sally McDermott for a 4-hour hike in Lighthouse Park. In the footsteps of Randy Stoltman, we will hike to the Big Trees of Lighthouse Park. There are many notable Douglas Fir and Red Cedar giants to be seen. The trails are tricky underfoot so sturdy walking shoes/poles are needed. Bring your own food and water for snack at Eagle Point and lunch at Juniper Point. Bring binoculars for looking high up into the trees and for observing any birds we might see. Hike start 9:00 am and estimated finish time 1pm.
Sally is an active member of the Lighthouse Park Preservation Society, coordinating weed-pulls and participating in bird-counts. She also monitors Bald Eagle nests in the park for the Hancock Wildlife Foundation. Growing up close to Lighthouse Park, she is familiar with every nook and cranny.
