🌿Lichens & Mosses – Cypress Falls Park hike – sorry trip full

The first in a series of ‘themed’ easy to moderate field trips whose goal is to encourage greater awareness of the plants around us.
This easy, exploratory outing will introduce participants to the 7 basic categories of lichen (dust, crust, scale, leaf, club, shrub and hair) as well as some of the more common mosses in our area.
While we will be ID’ing some things, our primary goal will to notice & enjoy the diversity in colour, growth forms, and habitats of these beautiful and fascinating ‘plants’.
While the hike will be at a leisurely pace, it will involve some scrambling and off-trail exploring, so proper footwear and a good sense of balance are needed.  Trip goes rain or shine.  3.6km in 3 to 4 hours, with 180m elevation gain.
Maximum 10 people.  Please bring a mask, so that we can gather to share and discuss our finds.  A hand lens would come in handy, or practicing the zoom function on your smartphone.
Leaders Teresa Gagné and Denis Laplante.
