🌿🦆Smuggler Cove – Sechelt Botany & Birding Trip [FULL]
Hike Location: Smuggler Cove Marine Park
4km round trip mostly level trail/boardwalk leads from parking lot to Smugglers Cove to see plants and birds of coastal and wetland communities. The first section of the walk follows wooden boardwalks through a scenic wetland where the highlight will be blooming Utricularia (Bladderwort). After a short uphill stretch, the trail loops through the trees following the shoreline with views along rocky outcrops. Highlights here include Arbutus trees. Birds are abundant all along the trail.
Trip goes rain or shine; bring lunch, drinks, and sturdy shoes. Since this is the middle of Canad Day long weekend, we have ferry reservations for 3 cars leaving Horseshoe Bay at 7:30 AM Sunday June 30, returning from Langdale at 15:35. You can walk on (deadline 7:15) and meet us on the ferry.
