Those that do go could be rewarded with some outstanding birds. Regular are Black-footed Albatross, Northern Fulmar, Sooty, Pink-footed and Buller’s Shearwater, Fork-tailed Storm-Petrel, Tufted Puffin and Cassin’s Auklet. Rarities like Short-tailed and Laysan Albatross, Flesh-footed, Short-tailed and Manx Shearwater are possibilities. Mammals often seen include Humpback and Gray Whales, Orca, Sea Otter, California and Steller’s Sea Lion, Harbour Seal. Land birding along Pacific Rim is excellent at this time of year.
