Welcome Bird Walk for Beginners at Queen Elizabeth Park, October 25 9am
Kelvin Yip and Neill Vanhinsberg will co-lead a walk around the park checking duck ponds, wooded areas and gardens for late migrants and winter resident birds. The walk will start at 9 AM and last approximately 2-3 hours. This is an easy walk on mostly level ground with a few small hills. Trails are either paved or hard packed. If you have mobility issues, please let us know and we can cater the walk to your needs. There will be some binoculars to lend out if you don’t have a pair.
The emphasis will be on finding and identifying birds from a beginner’s perspective then, observing their behaviour. Questions are encouraged! You can check out the latest sightings at the park on ebird https://ebird.org/hotspot/L275836
Pre-registration is required and the walk is limited to 15 participants. Email Kelvin Yip to register: kelvin@naturevancouver.ca Washrooms are available on site. Nature Vancouver members will be given priority. Pay parking is available in the park but street parking is free. There are bus stops close to the park. Directions to our meeting spot will be sent with confirmation of registration.
