Bird Walk at Burnaby Mountain North Road Hydro Cut, October 11, 8am

When

11/Oct/2025
8:00 am - 11:00 am

Event Type

Join leaders Jan Lowcock and Neill Vanhinsberg for a walk at the base of Burnaby Mountain. This is a new spot for Jan and we haven’t done a walk here before so it is a bit of an exploratory walk. We will be checking the Hydro cut and surrounding woods for late migrants and wintering birds for a few hours to see what we can find. We can expect to find thrushes, sparrows, finches, kinglets and probably a chickadee/mixed flock or two.

Most of the trails are gravel or hard packed (with some roots and rocks on a few trails) and there is some incline (it is a mountain after all). We will be moving slowly so the hills shouldn’t be too taxing. The rating for this walk is B or Moderate: trail with possible rocks, roots or other hazards. Moderate grade, occasional steep but short sections. Up to 200m elevation change.

We will be meeting here at 8am https://maps.app.goo.gl/jkgEPqzjc7tbLgyR9

There isn’t registration for this walk but if you have any questions email nvanhinsberg@gmail.com
