Southern Resident Killer Whale Health Concerns – Dr. Martin Haulena
The Southern Resident Killer Whales are a small and vulnerable population that frequent the Salish Sea. They are listed as endangered with the main concerns being food availability and degraded habitat. Dr Haulena will be sharing knowledge of health issues that could also be interfering with their recovery.
Dr. Haulena is the head veterinarian at the Vancouver Aquarium, where he and his team care for everything from seastars to sea lions. He is also the director of the nonprofit Marine Mammal Rescue & Rehabilitation Centre.
This presentation will be via Zoom Video Conferencing. On the Monday preceding the event, Nature Vancouver members will receive the Zoom link in the weekly e-News. The talk will begin at 7:30 pm.
