- The Old-Growth Forest of Lighthouse Park
An event for Nature Vancouver’s 100th Anniversary.
Lighthouse Park, West Vancouver is unique in the Vancouver region for having one of the last low elevation old-growth stands of forest. We will walk the trails through this rugged and beautiful park and observe the features that characterize an old-growth forest. We will also look at the smaller plants of Lighthouse Park and you will hear little-known stories about their complex lives. If you have a hand lens bring it, as some of the plants’ secrets are beyond the range of the human eye.
Terrain: Rugged and rocky in places. Poles may be advisable for some. Difficulty level B3.
Meeting location: Upper kiosk in car park of Lighthouse Park, West Vancouver. For those travelling by bus use the 250 Horseshoe Bay bus and alight at the Marine Drive/Beacon Lane stop.
Registration is required. Because of a need to limit the size of the group and because the event may be rescheduled due to weather, registration is required. Contact David at 604-924-0147 or cookeco2@yahoo.com to register.
