Stoney Creek Salmon Tour

Join members of the Marine Biology section, as they lead a tour to observe the salmon run in Stoney Creek (Burnaby/Coquitlam border). With the dedicated work of the Stoney Creek Environmental Committee (https://scec.ca), this stream has been supporting a growing run of chum and coho salmon and other endangered species. The walk will take place at the upper reaches of the stream where the water is shallower and flows from storms may have been less. There may be good opportunities to see the chum and coho salmon as they navigate the narrow stream to their spawning grounds.

This is an easy walk on a gravel trail, with little elevation change. There is also an opportunity to observe birds in this area, and riparian vegetation. Walk will proceed rain or shine, so please dress for the weather. The trail head is on North Road. Street parking is available nearby. The Burquitlam Skytrain Station is about a 15 minute walk.
