Stoney Creek Salmon Tour

Join Deborah Simpson and members of the Marine Biology section, as they lead a tour to observe the salmon run in Stoney Creek (Burnaby/Coquitlam border). With the dedicated work of the Stoney Creek Environmental Committee (https://scec.ca), this stream has been supporting a growing run of chum and coho salmon and other endangered species. However, after the extreme rainfall and water flows in the past week, the salmon redds (nests) may have been damaged. The walk will take place at the upper reaches of the stream where the water is shallower and flows from the storm may have been less. There may be good opportunities to see the chum and coho salmon as they navigate the narrow stream to their spawning grounds.
