Golden Ears Park Hike – POSTPONED – New date TBA
Leader – Cathy Walker
This will be a strenuous (C6), full-day hike in Golden Ears Provincial Park along the Canyon trails and towards Alder Flats. For hikers in good shape, this is about a 6-hour hike, beginning at 9 am and finishing by 3 pm. It’s about 14 km. and 440 m. elevation gain. People should bring rain gear and microspikes in case there is snow at elevation. People should expect mud, some slippery rocks and deepish puddles (gaiters would be useful).
If it’s a nice day, there would be a good view of snow-covered Edge Ridge and Golden Ears peaks from the lookout. We won’t see many birds but if there are botanists along there may still be some interesting mushrooms.
