Celebrating a Century of NV Wilderness Camps
Celebrating a Century of NV Wilderness Camps – Speaker: Nigel Peck
Since 1918 the Vancouver Natural History Society, now Nature Vancouver area birders, botanists and naturalists have forayed into the BC backcountry for one and two week camps to study nature, enjoy our province’s gorgeous landscapes, and just enjoy company with fellow outdoor people. What started with boat, train and packhorse travel and roughing it has evolved into helicopter supported camps, gourmet food and high-tech solutions for comfortable backcountry camping which continues to this day. Come and see a retrospective of some of the initial camps along with photos of the current styles and locations of Nature Vancouver camps as an introduction to the finest way to visit BC’s backcountry. This retrospective will be presented by the chair of the Nature Vancouver camp committee, Nigel Peck.
