Bluebirds are associated with many positive meanings around the globe. People often view bluebirds as symbols of joy and hope; some think it’s like good news on its way. 

Some people believe that bluebirds are symbols of harmony between the living and the dead. Or as Native American Tribes associate bluebirds with spring, prosperity, and even fertility.

When bluebirds look to nest?

There’s nothing better than having bluebirds nest in your yard. It’s a metric to measure the friendliness of your yard, like it’s a sign that your yard is bluebird-friendly. 

It’s not uncommon for bluebirds to start looking for nest boxes as early as late February, or even earlier in the South. Some birds nest into August or even into September if conditions are favourable.

What is the need for a birdhouse for bluebirds?

Historically, bluebirds depended mainly on woodpeckers and other cavity nesters for nesting places. For raising their families, they chose rotten fence posts or abandoned cavities in dead trees.

Bluebird populations declined dramatically after many of these natural nesting sites were destroyed because of development. Therefore, bird boxes contributed greatly to the revival of the bluebird population. Because there are specific requirements, you need to be careful with the measurements of the birdhouses for bluebirds.
