WELCOME BIRD WALK FOR BEGINNER’S AT QUEEN ELIZABETH PARK, JANUARY 24

When

24/Jan/2026
9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Event Type

Kelvin Yip and Neill Vanhinsberg will co-lead a walk around the park checking duck ponds, wooded areas and gardens for wintering birds. The walk will start at 9 AM and last approximately 2-3 hours. This is an easy walk on mostly level ground with a few small hills. Trails are either paved or hard packed.  If you have mobility issues, please let us know and we can cater the walk to your needs. There will be a limited number of binoculars to lend out if you don’t have a pair.

Our emphasis will be on finding and identifying birds from a beginner’s perspective and then observing their behaviours. Questions are encouraged! You can check out the latest sightings at the park on ebird https://ebird.org/hotspot/L275836/bird-list.

Pre-registration is required and the walk is limited to 15 participants.  Email Neill Vanhinsberg to register: nvanhinsberg@gmail.com  Washrooms are available on site. Nature Vancouver members will be given priority. Pay parking is available in the park, but street parking nearby is free. There are bus stops close to the park. Meet up location will be sent with confirmation of registration.
