The Wisdom of Turtles

We call ourselves Homo Sapiens: wise man, yet turtles outdate human lineage almost 770-fold; lots of time to accumulate wisdom! Learn about turtle adaptations that make them survivors and hear about research on western painted turtles, BC’s only native freshwater turtle. Are we humans wise enough to conserve them?

Peter Ballin, a member of Nature Vancouver, and BC Nature Conservation Chair, will present his research and observations about Western Painted Turtles.

This presentation will be a hybrid of in-person and via Zoom Video-Conferencing. The in-person location will be as in past years, the Unitarian Centre (Hewett Hall) at 949 West 49th Ave in Vancouver.

In-person attendees will be encouraged to wear masks and are expected to be vaccinated. In person audience will be limited to 40 attendees. Please RSVP to caroline@naturevancouver.ca

Zoom link: On the Monday preceding the event, Nature Vancouver members will receive the Zoom link in the weekly e-News. The talk will begin at 7:30 pm.  Non-members are welcome and should Email donna@naturevancouver.ca a few days ahead to register for the link.
