SUMMARY:SPRING MIGRATION MAGIC AT QUEEN ELIZABETH PARK
DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, May 9 • 8:00–10:00 am\nJoin Nature Vancouver a
 nd Birds Canada for a spring bird walk at Queen Elizabeth Park during 
 the peak of migration. Early May is one of the best times of year to exper
 ience songbird movement through Vancouver\, and we’ll be looking for war
 blers\, vireos\, tanagers\, flycatchers\, and other migrants passing throu
 gh the park’s trees and gardens. Species we may encounter include Orange
 -crowned\, Yellow\, Yellow-rumped\, and Wilson’s warblers\, Warbling Vir
 eo\, Western Tanager\, Black-headed Grosbeak\, and a variety of other spri
 ng migrants.\n\nThis walk is part of Vancouver Bird Celebration Week and
  coincides with Global Big Day\, a worldwide volunteer monitoring event c
 elebrating birds. Trip leaders will record sightings on eBird to help pr
 omote participation in volunteer bird monitoring.\n\nAll experience levels
  are welcome\, including those who are new to birding.\n\nTrip Leaders\n\n
 Yousif Attia works for Birds Canada\, a national not-for-profit organiza
 tion and BirdLife International partner dedicated to the conservation of w
 ild birds. He supports national volunteer monitoring programs\, including 
 the Christmas Bird Count and eBird in Canada\, and contributes to content 
 development and public outreach. Yousif is an experienced birding tour lea
 der and avid regional birder who enjoys sharing his knowledge of bird migr
 ation and identification.\n\nNeill Vanhinsberg is an active Nature Vanco
 uver birding trip leader and recipient of a community award recognizing h
 is contributions to birding and conservation. He is a dedicated field bird
 er and participates in the East Cascades Raptor Monitoring Project\, a lo
 ng-running effort that monitors migrating diurnal raptors across western N
 orth America.\n\nJoanna Chin is a PhD candidate researching women’s lea
 rning experiences with birds and the relational ethics that emerge through
  bird encounters. She integrates birding and nature journaling as a way of
  deepening relationships with birds and place. Joanna is passionate about 
 diversity\, equity\, and inclusion and mentors young women leaders through
  Women for Nature at Nature Canada.\n\nWhat to Bring:\nBinoculars if yo
 u have them\, comfortable walking shoes\, and clothing appropriate for the
  weather.\nBinoculars will also be available on a first-come\, first-serve
