 ews will not be able to present on Thursday. (He's fine\, but unexpectedly
  will not have internet access.)&nbsp\; The presentation will be reschedul
 ed.\nNature Vancouver is pleased to announce that Derek Matthews of the Va
 ncouver Avian Research Centre will be our Birder’s Night Speaker on Dece
 mber 5th.&nbsp\; Derek will be speaking to us on Planning and Creating a B
 ird and Wildlife Friendly Garden. This presentation will show people why t
 hat is and how they can take advantage of their gardens to help our birds 
 and other wildlife. Whether it is an existing garden that needs a few twea
 ks or an expansive lawn that is being transformed for the benefit of natur
 e\, the presentation is designed to give people a head start in welcoming 
 more birds to their garden and to ensure their outdoor space\, whether lar
 ge or small\, will help birds and other wildlife to thrive. The presentati
 on covers: design and layout\; water features and feeders\; nesting habita
 t and nest boxes\; plants and maintenance.\n\nA passionate ornithologist\,
  avian researcher and conservationist\; Derek is the Chair of the Vancouve
 r Avian Research Centre\, a Master bird bander (A Master Bander is an indi
 vidual licensed by Environment Canada to capture and band wild birds) and 
 an NABC (North American Banding Council) Certified Trainer.\n\nThis presen
 tation will be via Zoom Video Conferencing. On the Monday preceding the ev
 ent\, Nature Vancouver members will receive the Zoom link in the weekly e-
 News. The talk will begin at 7:30 pm. Non-members are welcome and should E
 mail eNews@naturevancouver.ca a few days ahead to register for the link or
  join the Nature Vancouver Meetup Group and RSVP Yes to the event.
