Northshore Wildlife: Bears, Cougars and Coyotes
Learn basic bear biology, black bear behaviour, seasonal habits, best practices for trail users, how to identify bear sign, how to reduce bear activity in the neighbourhood and what to do in an encounter. Followed by a short introduction to coyotes and cougars, focusing on seasonal habits, identifying sign and what to do in an encounter.
Luci Cadman of the North Shore Black Bear Society will be the presenter. The North Shore Black Bear Society is a non-profit organization, aiming to help reduce bear activity in urban areas and promote responsible coexistence with wildlife on the North Shore. Luci Cadman is certified in bear safety and awareness, and is a certified bear-viewing guide with the Commercial Bear Viewing Association of British Columbia. She is the education coordinator for the North Shore Black Bear Society and has been with the organization for five years.
This presentation will be aired via Zoom Video Conferencing. On the Monday, preceding the event, Nature Vancouver members will receive the Zoom link in the weekly e-News. To join the talk on Thursday, click on that link after 7:15 pm. The talk will begin at 7:30 pm.
