NEW BRIGHTON WORK PARTY
The Saturday, May 9th New Brighton work party starting at our new summer schedule time of 8:45 am – 11:30 am (which now includes sign in plus tea and treat time at end) will focus in particular on pulling Purple Vetch which starting to strangle native perennial flowers and shrubs we’ve planted, clipping grass around native plants and digging up sprouting out Bull Thistle before the soil hardens from drying out.
The New Brighton Biodiversity Enhancement’s project’s long term goal is to remove invasive monoculture plant species and replace them with a variety of native perennial herbaceous flowers and shrubs to promote greater biodiversity of insects, other pollinators, birds and animal life.
