New Brighton Restoration – Work Party
The Nature Vancouver led New Brighton biodiversity enhancement project is now in its 4th year of removing invasive plant species such as Scotch Broom, Himalayan Blackberry, Bull Thistle and Purple Vetch among others. We have also planted around 3000 native perennial flowers and shrubs on the west side of the park and the strip of Port of Vancouver land adjacent to the park.
Our next work party will be Saturday, February 15th. We will focus on clipping back blackberry cane and digging out blackberry root along the shoreline and, dependent on how many people help, in other areas of the park.
Please rsvp Nigel by emailing nigel@naturevancouver.ca to make sure there are adequate tools & treats, to receive any changes of plans should they occur, and to get directions and a map where we work. Do not use Google Maps to find the work location – it will send you to the wrong place!
You can read about the work done in 2024 in this blog post.
