New Brighton Restoration – Work Party
The Nature Vancouver led New Brighton biodiversity enhancement project will soon start its 4th year of removing invasive plant species such as Scotch Broom, Himalayan Blackberry, Bull Thistle and Purple Vetch among others. The project also has planted around 3000 native perennial flowers and shrubs on the west side of the park and the strip of Port of Vancouver land adjacent to the park.
This Sunday’s work party will focus on clipping back blackberry along the shoreline and digging out blackberry root where possible. If we have extra help we will also clip reed canary grass on Commissioner Street overpass hill and possibly start removing Canada Thistle and Bull Thistle on the east side of the park.
Please rsvp Nigel by emailing nigel@naturevancouver.ca to make sure there are adequate tools, treats and to receive any changes of plans should they occur.
