The Nature Vancouver Sketch Group is back! Please join us for a morning outing at Terra Nova Rural Park! All are welcome to this casual sketchbook journaling session. Bring a pencil or pen; a notepad or sketchbook; and any other favorite, portable art materials. Dress for the weather. Bring a snack/lunch and water bottle. Optional supplies: camera and/or magnifying glass.

We will start as a group for a short walk about the park to get familiar with its layout, then split up to sketch whatever catches our eyes and curiosity. Author, illustrator Vicky Earle will lead the group and be on hand to answer questions.

Terra Nova Rural Park is a 63-acre site offering immersive natural experiences, walks among farms and gardens, and lovely views of the Salish Sea. Located along the Pacific Flyway and adjacent to the Sturgeon Bank Wildlife Management Area, this park is considered a “birding hotspot”, with over 200 species being recorded annually. It is bordered on two sides by the riverfront West Dyke Trail (along with a small portion of the Middle Arm Trail), it lies between the north arm of the Fraser River and the sea. An additional 35-acre protected nature area is located across the street, south of the park. This carefully preserved environmentally sensitive expanse is surrounded by a perimeter trail that wanders along slender waterways and pond.
