Marine Mammal Rescue Centre Visit – Oct 20, 2019, 9:30 AM
A group field trip has been arranged to visit the Vancouver Aquarium’s Marine Mammal Rescue Centre in Vancouver.
Under the careful attention of the wonderful staff and volunteers, the rescued harbour seals are diagnosed, treated, rehabilitated, and most are successfully released each year. The centre has even been visited by the occasional turtle, elephant seal, harbour porpoise and otter, which have all received their share of TLC.
You will have a tour of the facility and an explanation of the rehabilitation routine. You will also have ample opportunity to see and photograph the very photogenic patients.
You will be asked NOT TO GO TO THE AQUARIUM ITSELF AFTER YOUR VISIT TO MMR as these are wild and sometimes sick animals and cross contamination is a serious issue. It is a wet environment, so waterproof footwear is suggested.
Registration is required. Contact Jennifer Ingram. If you register and have to cancel, please do so ASAP as space is limited.
Suggested donation: Adults (16+ years) – $10 Others: $5
The centre is NOT at the Aquarium. A map will be provided for you to be able to find the facility once you have registered.
