Neill Vanhisberg will be our\nraptor guide\, helping us spot and identify Raptors and sharing tips for recognizing\ndifferent species in flight. Jo anna Chin will organize the event and facilitate optional\nnature journali ng.\n\nEveryone is welcome\, including families\, beginners\, experienced birders\, and people of\ndifferent backgrounds\, identities\, and abilitie s.\nWhat to Expect\nThis is a stationary hawk watch\, not a hike. We will spend most of our time sitting\ntogether and watching the sky. The pace wi ll be relaxed\, and participants are welcome\nto sit\, stand\, move around \, take breaks\, journal\, chat\, or simply enjoy the view.\n\nRaptor migr ation can be unpredictable. Sometimes several Birds may pass through in a\ nshort period\, while at other times the skies may be quiet. Neill will he lp us scan for\nRaptors and share identification and migration tips along the way.\n\nBring binoculars if you have them. A limited number will be av ailable to borrow on a\nfirst-come\, first-served basis.\nOptional Nature Journaling\nNature journaling will be available throughout the hawk watch as an optional way to\nslow down\, notice and record what is happening aro und us. You might sketch a Raptor\nin flight\, record the Birds we see\, w rite something you notice or wonder about\, or\nobserve changes in the wea ther and landscape.\n\nPencil crayons will be provided. Feel free to bring your own paper\, journal\, pencils\,\npens\, or other supplies you feel c omfortable using. No drawing or journaling experience\nis necessary.\nAcce ssibility &\; Inclusion\nThis event is designed to provide a relaxed an d inclusive nature experience with\ndifferent ways to participate.\n\nThe hawkwatch location is in an open grassy area with picnic tables scattered around\nthe perimeter and through the middle. It is approximately 100 metr es from the parking\nlot to our sitting location. There is no trail\, and the grass is somewhat uneven. The\ngrade is approximately 0-5% and no stee per than a 1:12 slope.\n\nFree parking is available\, with pit toilets nex t to the parking lot. Participants are\nwelcome to sit throughout the even t\, change positions\, take breaks\, or leave early as\nneeded.\n\nPlease contact Joanna if you have questions about accessibility or would like add itional\ninformation about the site.\nWhat to Bring\n Portable chair\n  Binoculars\, if you have them\n Water and snacks\n Layers and cl othing appropriate for the weather\n Sun protection\n Paper or a jou rnal and your preferred supplies if you would like to nature journal\n\nNo previous birding or nature journaling experience is necessary.
