DESCRIPTION:This is a combined Lighthouse Park Preservation Society and Nat
 ure Vancouver field trip.\nTour will be cancelled if it rains or if it rai
 ns the day before\, as the rocks are slippery when wet. Those who register
  will be notified if the tour is cancelled.\nBy registration:&nbsp\;Contac

 gist.\nMeeting time &amp\; location:&nbsp\;11 am at the Anchor monument wh
 ich is about 100 to 200 metres east of the Municipal Dock on Pilot House R
 d.&nbsp\;\nA location map &amp\; a photo of the Anchor Monument will be se
 nt to those who register.\nDuration of tour &amp\; length of tour:&nbsp\;A
 bout two hours. A few hundred metres\; short distances over rocky bluffs w
 hich may be slippery.\nTerrain &amp\; elevation gain:&nbsp\;Uneven rocky s
 urface. The elevation gain is negligible.\nGetting there:&nbsp\;For people
  travelling by bus\, the route is from Park Royal along Marine Drive.&nbsp
 \;Get off at the Fire Station and it is a short walk along The Dale to Pil
 ot House Road past the church to the Anchor monument (a location&nbsp\;map
  &amp\; the Anchor Monument will be supplied to those who register). For t
 hose driving\, the route from the church to the meeting location (the anch
 or monument) is one-way.\nDescription of the event:&nbsp\;The rocks on the
  shores of Caulfeild Park are the most accessible of the oldest rocks in t
 he Vancouver area having their origin about 400 million years ago. Because
  of this accessibility and the uniqueness of the geology\, geologists cons
 ider this site of great value in illustrating some of the processes that t
 ook place during the formation of granitic rocks. Also\, we will view the 
 geological &amp\; geomorphological features around Burrard Inlet.&nbsp\;\n
 Be prepared:&nbsp\;Bring water\, a snack\, a hat as the area is open to th
 e sky\, and non-slip footwear.\n&nbsp\;
