BIRDS AND BUTTERFLIES: YEW LAKE TRAIL WALK #3 – AUGUST 9, 2026, 12:00PM
Lead by Angela Hansen and Neill Vanhinsberg
Birds should be caring for fledglings, and young birds foraging in mixed flocks to prepare for migration. There will be wildflowers in bloom and some plants fruiting. There should be plenty of butterflies out in the warm of the afternoon. We will walk the Yew Lake Trail Loop, the small old growth loop, then back to the lodge. There is no change in elevation on this walk.
Dress for warm conditions and sun exposure, wear appropriate footwear for slippery and uneven conditions, hiking poles may be helpful, and bring binoculars, or request a pair to borrow in advance. A conditions update with parking, meeting place, and bathroom info will be emailed to participants the day before the walk.
Register to attend this walk by emailing Angela: angelamklhansen@gmail.com
Limit 15 people, priority given to Nature Vancouver members.
The goal of this series of walks is to observe seasonal changes in the sub-alpine ecosystem over the spring and summer in the birds, wildflowers, and insects. We will walk the Yew Lake Trail Loop, and back to the lodge. There is no change in elevation on this walk, the ground is uneven in places, but walk difficulty is easy. Duration 90 – 120 minutes.
