Event Type

Please join Evelyn Huang and Jan Lowcock for a morning of birding along the Fraser River and adjacent paths in the Burnaby Fraser Foreshore Park.    We will walk along the north edge of the Fraser River, through a cottonwood grove and along several offshoot trails, from our starting point near the mouth of Byrne Creek. Previous surveys have yielded a good selection of species, Red-tailed Hawk, American Kestrel, various woodpeckers, Great Blue Heron, Bald Eagle, gulls, ducks, grebes, swallows, sparrows and thrushes. We’ll keep an eye out for warblers and other migrants. Time permitting, we can head further upriver toward the Estuary Wetland Area.

Trails are well packed and level, although we may have some muddy, uneven sections.

Birders at all levels of experience are welcome.  Let us know if you need to borrow a set of binoculars.

Registration is limited to 18 people so please contact janet.lowcock@naturevancouver.ca. Directions and information about parking will be given to registered participants.
