Beginner Bird Walk at Jericho Beach Park
Join this group for a fun relaxed morning of birding at Jericho Beach Park. Joanna Chin and Donna McKenzie will co-lead this family-friendly walk.
It will be geared towards people who have little or no birding experience and would like to learn more about the wonderful world of birds. We will explore the trails and the areas around the ponds for birds.
This walk is part of Vancouver Bird Celebration (May 10 to 26, 2024).
Bring binoculars and your cell phone if you have them. We have a few loaner bins to lend out to people that need them. Dress for the weather – the trails can get muddy and as we’re adjacent to a beach, it can get cold and windy. We will be walking on level dirt and gravel trails and cement pathways, but the ground can be a bit rough in a few areas with protruding stumps or rocks.
Families and children are welcome but those under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. This trip will run rain or shine unless it’s a total downpour.
There is free parking on West 4th. If you are taking public transportation, #4 or #44 or #84 will take you close to West 4th and NW Marine Drive. From that intersection, there is a short walk to Jericho Beach Park. We will be meeting at the Jericho Beach Concession Stand where there are washrooms available.
Pre-registration required. The trip is limited to 16 participants. This is a Nature Vancouver event. To register, or to ask questions, please email Joanna Chin at joachin8@gmail.com
