Romney will share her passions for these “enigmatic wonders”. She will focus on what is known about the biology and ecology of basking sharks, what has happened in the past due to over-fishing and eradication programs, and what is being done now in the region and beyond to build an understanding and awareness. Many scientists, including Romney, are trying to ensure they won’t be forgotten. Romney is a marine biologist, educator, artist and keen ocean conservationist and collaborator. She has been employed as a shark biologist with the the Canadian Dept. of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO)  and is a member of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Shark Specialist Group.

On the Monday preceding the event, Nature Vancouver members will receive the Zoom link in the weekly e-News.  The talk will begin at 7:30 pm.  Non-members are welcome and should Email enews@NatureVancouver.ca a few days ahead to register for the link.
