WALKING TOUR OF ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP IN CHAMPLAIN HEIGHTS – FREE THE FERN AND MORE
This field trip will start with a guided tour of the Free the Fern stewardship areas introduced by founder Grace Nombrado in her presentation on Thursday evening March 19, that video is available at this link. This area is adjacent to Red Alder trail and includes the Douglas Fir Teaching Garden, a newly planted community food forest and trailside restoration areas. Grace’s 1 hr tour (1:00-2:00 pm) of this area will be followed by a leisurely walk though nearby Everett Crowley park led by Denis Laplante and Teresa Gagné (2:00-3:30pm) to enjoy the native plants and birds while viewing and discussing conservation efforts and issues in the park. Trails are generally good, but good shoes and balance are required.
Meet at 12:45 at the top of the playground at the corner of Champlain Crescent and Matheson Crescent. Transit access via bus #26 or 31.
Registration limited to 20 people. Please email register@naturevancouver.ca
