SUMMARY:25-YEAR TRENDS OF COASTAL WATERBIRDS IN BRITISH COLUMBIA
DESCRIPTION:December Birder's night\n\n\nHow are coastal waterbirds doing i
 n British Columbia? Join us as we explore what we’ve learned from the BC
  Coastal Waterbird Survey\, a long-running volunteer program coordinated b
 y Birds Canada. Together\, we’ll look at how waterbird populations have 
 changed over the past 25 years\, what patterns are emerging across differe
 nt regions\, and which species and places may need extra conservation atte
 ntion. We’ll also share how this program builds international connection
 s and supports meaningful conservation work. Everyone is welcome!\n\n\n\nS
 peaker Profile:\nRémi Torrenta is the British Columbia Projects Coordinat
 or at Birds Canada. Originally from southern France\, he completed his PhD
  at the Université de Moncton in New Brunswick. Rémi has spent the past 
 15 years working in avian research across both the East and West Coasts of
  Canada.\nHe currently manages and oversees more than a dozen programs\, i
 ncluding Birds Canada’s Citizen Science initiatives in British Columbia\
 , Species-at-Risk monitoring\, Urban Birds programming\, outreach and educ
 ation projects\, and Indigenous engagement efforts. Rémi believes that me
 aningful conservation is best achieved through a combination of rigorous r
 esearch\, community-driven citizen science\, and accessible scientific out
 reach.\n\n\nThis presentation will be via Zoom Video Conferencing. On the 
 Monday preceding the event\, Nature Vancouver members will receive the Zoo
