Snowshoe in the Old Growth Conservancy

Join Marshall Bauman and Anne Leathem for a hike in the Old Growth Conservancy in Upper West Vancouver District, south of Cypress Provincial Park and west of Cypress Bowl Road. We will be off trail clambering over uneven ground and fallen logs in deep snow to experience the wonder of old growth trees. The Conservancy was saved from the fate of becoming a golf course by a group of very dedicated people in 1990. There is a mixture of different aged forests with some western red cedars up to 900 years old.

Wear warm clothing, good boots, and snowshoes. Bring poles, water and a snack or lunch. Hike will be up to 4 km with under 100 m elevation gain and will last 3 to 4 hours.

Preregistration is required with a limit of 10 participants who must be Nature Vancouver members for insurance purposes. Contact anne@leathem.ca to register and for meeting time and place. May be weather dependent and would be rescheduled if necessary.
