🌿Estuarine Plants – Daniel Stewart
By coincidence, this presentation actually builds on October’s Marine Biology presentation on Sea-Level Rise by Eric Balke (available on our YouTube channel). In this presentation Eric’s friend and “go-to botany expert” Daniel Stewart will introduce us to the fascinating world of Estuarine plants. Many of us live in close proximity to the Fraser River, but the unique plant communities found in its salt mashes, tidal creeks, mudflats and beaches are often overlooked and underappreciated. Daniel will be giving us a guided tour around the Fraser Estuary, discussing everything from the environmental challenges faced by plants in these habitats, to common and rare species, to emerging threats such as the invasive cattail he’s been studying.
This presentation will be aired via Zoom Video Conferencing. On the Monday preceding the event, Nature Vancouver members will receive the Zoom link in the weekly e-News. To join the talk on Thursday, click on that link after 7:15 pm. The talk will begin at 7:30 pm. Non-members are welcome and should Email denis@NatureVancouver.ca well in advance to register for the link.
