Trip report by Leader Anne Leathem
On August 25th five of us set out in a light shower up the trail to Black Mountain and the Plateau. We were not a fast group but enjoyed checking out the trees and and other plants along the way. Among us were friends new and old so we caught up on our latest summer holidays. When we reached Eagle Bluff, alas, there was no view. To escape the rain we tucked in under the nearby trees to have a rather quick lunch then hiked back to the Black Mountain Loop junction. From here we turned east on the loop then took the old abandoned Baden-Powell trail through wonderful old growth conifers (climbing over the occasional log) to a road and down to the lodge. We were rather soggy but quite refreshed and glad we had gone. Here is a photo from our lunch spot on a sunny day! No photos taken in the rain.
