A reminder to all that the 68th Annual Vancouver Christmas Bird Count will be held Saturday, 14^th December.

December 1st update: We’re up to 163 birders registered for the 2024 Christmas Bird Count, an increase of 18 registrants in the past week – thanks to all of you who registered this last week and thanks to all registrants for committing your time and energy to this important community science initiative. Two weeks to go, we’re getting much closer to ideal numbers, and the Count could still use a few more birders.

Please take a look at the registration chart below and the map of the Vancouver Circle to see where you can sign up and best make a contribution to this year’s Christmas Bird Count. Areas that still have three or fewer registrants are the priorities now, and Area Leaders are still required for Areas C-w, K, and X.

We’ve created an information and signup portal to make it easier to coordinate the 2024 CBC and to make information such as maps, data sheets, etc. available to everyone participating. Please go to 2024 CBC – Vancouver Circle to sign up, please forward this email to other birders you know who may wish to participate, and email Peter McNamee if you have any questions at all about the 2024 CBC.

The 2024 Christmas Bird Count is happening in other parts of Metro Vancouver as well and almost certainly can use volunteer support.  Please see Nature Vancouver CBC Page for maps, and dates for these other locations.
